What is the meaning of colloquial  word Eiyum -  ஈயம்  used in Tamilnadu
Is this metal called  as Tin or Lead  ?

உண்மையில் 

1. ஈயம்         = Tin,
 
2. காரீயம்   = Lead 

"ஈயம்" என்பது  Tin  ஆகும்.
It is  also called as "வெள்ளீயம்"
Tin     = "ஈயம்"        உடலுக்கு கெடுதல் செய்யாது.  
Lead  =  "காரீயம்" உடலுக்கு கெடுதல் செய்யும்.


  Lead is called as காரீயம் in Tamizh.

As per colloquial language "Kaar Eiyum".

Lead (Pb)= Plumbum in Latin so it is abbriviated as Pb - 82( Atomic no)

 

Tin is called as "Velli Eiyum" in Tamil "வெள்ளீயம்"  or  " ஈயம்"

 As per colloquial " ஈயம்" Stannum is the Latin word for Tin (Sn)
